About us

Scopos is a technology company which, through the meaning of the name indicates our scope of business "ideas that create solutions". Our philosophy builds on the belief that complex challenges often have simple solutions, while we acknowledge that simple solutions are not always easy to find.

We use practical experience, creativity and knowledge of a network of experts, to tailor solutions to customer challenges.

Our knowledge of film and optics technology through more than 20 years, form the basis of our technology and how we develop our products.

Scopos are proud to present a solution for 180-degree seamless 3 x HD quality film in the size of 5504 x 1024 pixels. The films are tailored to customer needs for content and method of presentation. The Scopos solution makes it possible to further develope films in 360-degree and also as a dome.

Scopos has developed a camera and measuring device specially designed for non-contact measurements of geometry in real time. The instrument is aimed for subsea operations, but can also be used off-shore above sea level and on-shore. The product software enables Scopos to tailor modules for filters, pre-sets and adjustments to customer needs.

Our customers typically represent tourism, offshore/subsea and public authorities. We believe that our products can be useful for other businesses like the aqua industry and tunnel industry as examples.

Scopos is organized as a project organization. The company has established close relationships with experts in the camera and software technology.

Geir Bredo Larsen is the chairman. Together with Gro Gundersen, Harald Gundersen, Tørres K Brøvig and Jacob Loga he represents the board of directors.

The company is led by Grethe Hindersland.

Helge Heskestad runs the finances.

Harald Gundersen has his focus on development and sales.

Torgeir Trydal is our technical "hands on". He is in close connection with our technical partners in Voca as and Impetus AFEA as.

Scopos is fortunate to have a group of owners with extensive offshore and subsea experience. The group has formed "ressursguppen" and they work together with the Scopos team to get in contact with important customers and discuss technology questions and needs for the business.

It all started when " Reklamebyrået Idè" engaged in a project development program with the municipality of Sirdal. The project was based on making a 180 degree movie showing the development of Sirdal from "poverty to the water power plant effect of Sira Kvina". A museum was established and Reklamebyrået Idè was responsible for both shooting the film, edit and visualize the movie on a 180 degree screen in the museum.

In conjunction with the development in Sirdal, the Reklamebyrået Idè developed new technology for recording, production and presentation of 180 degree movies. The solutions made the company able to produce this type of films to a substantially lower cost than earlier methods.

In 2006 the company got in contact with the German company Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Institute. The idea to develop a seamless 180 degree solution was born.

Scopos is greek and translates to "ideas that create solutions". The company was established due to the fact that one saw a great potential for the 180 degree film product beyond the primary marked area of Reklamebyrået Idè.

Feasibility studies conducted 2008/2009 showed a significant national and international potential for the seamless 180 degree solution in other markets and for other products.

In 2009 Scopos joined in cooperation with Innovation Norway and three different customers. An industrial-, research and development agreement (IFU-agreement) was signed for the development of the products investigator, tunneleye and bluebox. The 180 degree experience lies behind the development of all three products.
